One more chance
We went to Santa Barbara Shellfish at the end of Stearn's Wharf. Ridgeback shrimp were on the menu. I cannot resist these little jewels from out local waters. They have an added appeal as they are on the sustainable seafood list compiled by the Montery Bay Aquarium. The fishing season has closed and this was a last change to enjoy these jewels from out local waters. Their version is a beer boil shrimp, peel and eat, with lemon-lime and cocktail sauce. These are super fine shrimp, moist, sweet and succulent.
The Santa Barbara Channel is one of the Americas most abundant, sustainable and high-quality seafood — from rock lobster, ridgeback shrimp, rock crab, white sea bass, California halibut, yellowtail, salmon, swordfish, thresher shark, and rockfish to such delicacies as Santa Barbara spot prawns, sea urchin, and sea cucumber. Santa Barbara Harbor’s local fishermen catch between six and ten million pounds of seafood annually, which, considering its positive effect on related businesses, equates to a $35-$40 million industry. We are fortunate to have this bounty at our doorstep.
