On our recent trip to Paris, we rented an apartment adjacent to the old Les Halles in Paris. We were on the Rue Montmarte. Within a five minute walk there was a number of famous vendors such as E. Dehillerin, MORA, A. Simon, La Bovida as well as a foie gras shop, smoked fish shop, over a dozen restaurants, chocolate making supply store and a culinary bookstore!
Twice a week directly below our flat was a street market that had fish monger, butchers, produce vendor, bakery, cheese monger, a hot food vendor with a chicken rotisserie. The quality and variety was terrific. We purchased farm eggs, crevettes gris (shrimp), bread, croissants, a great melon (charentaise), radishes, figs and a few cheese. It's a great way to experience the local products.
