Copper Sign for Dom Designs
Back in the early 1970s, sculptor Dominick Laruccia, Jr. participated in a trade show at the LA Giftmart. A dealer on La Cienega Blvd. in Los Angeles was his sponsor and representative at the show. I remember the name of Mr. Klein. Dominick had designed a series of copper fountains that he wanted to market so he took the name of Dom Designs that Mr. Klein suggested.
The show was a success and we left with orders for some 30 fountains. Much to my bewilderment, Dominick went to a piano dealer named David Abel the next day and ordered a baby grand based on the sale of the fountains. It made no difference that the fountains had not been made or even a deposit taken.
Sometime later, when he was slow to make payments, Dominick made a copper box in the form of a piano as a gift to David Abel.
